Insert the string into the small hole at the
center of the inner ball. Wrap the string around the ball.
(There is a whole in the inner ball to start the string and a grove in the inner ball to wrap the
string. - You can typically wrap the string around the
inner ball twice.)
-
Once the string is wrapped around the inner ball
pull it as you would to turn a top. The inner ball will begin to
turn at a relatively slow speed.
-
Once the inner ball begins to turn work the ball
back and forth in the direction of the current spinning motion. HINT:
Feel the direction the inner gyroscope is trying to spin before
beginning your motion. Rotate your hand in the direction of the
inner gyroscope's motion.
-
The object is to keep the inner ball spinning.
If you had enough arm strength theoretically you could keep the
ball moving forever. Your first goal should be to keep the ball
moving for 5 minutes in each hand. Your writing hand will be
able to do the exercise longer than your non-writing hand in the
beginning. (Athletes typically cannot spin the ball more than 5
minutes in each hand before tiring and having to switch hands.)
-
To build strength in your forearm, move the ball
back and forth as fast as you can for as long as you can. Switch
hands when your forearm gets tired.
-
To use the ball as a stress reliever just try to
maintain a constant speed of the inner ball. Concentrate on
keeping the inner ball moving at a slow speed. Get into the
flow of the inner ball and concentrate of keeping the ball
moving. After a few minute you will realize that you have
thought of nothing else except the movement of the inner
ball.
-
If you are trying to build strength or just
using the GyroFlex as a
stress reliever remember that this is a very low impact exercise. If
you feel pain in your joints you are probably trying to hard to
keep the ball moving. This ball requires very little movement on
your part. It requires forearm strength and concentration to
keep it moving.
-
Always consult your Doctor if you experience any
pain. Again this is a very low impact form of exercise.
